It's been a year since I last posted and I'm still knitting. I gave up on the Brioche Hat, much to my dismay. I finally figured out the stitch pattern but then had to do the decreases. Once I figured out the decreases the stitch work had gotten all loose from frogging and the hat was ruined. I'm sure at some point in my future I will pick it up again just to conquer it once and for all.
I'm up to the sleeve caps on the Bamboo Lounging Jacket. They are quite a bit of fussy work. I had to increase the width of the sleeves to accommodate my larger arms. This requires more decreases at the slope of the sleeve cap which I think I have figured out. I still want to lay it out on some paper and draw a tracing of the jacket arm opening just to be sure there is enough room. If there isn't I will have to frog back on the front and back of the main body and add rows at midway between the top of the shoulder and breast line.
I still have to cut my Dale and insert the sleeves and make the collar. I've been such a wimp about cutting it, it's very silly. Part of the reason I wait is I have to baste the pattern stitches on the fabric for the neck before I sew and cut. I'm not sure that I can figure it out, so there it sits. I'm sure I could figure it out if I just took a Saturday to do it!! Winter's almost over and I still don't have my Dale done.
I did make fingerless Spyrogyra Fingerless Gloves for Leia for Christmas, but she lost one after only 3 days. That girl needs mitten clips! I still have enough yarn to make another one for her after awhile. The pattern looks very difficult, but is easy to knit. It's a 4 stitch repeat. I love the shell like curves.
My sister sent me two skeins of Linen/Mohair lace weight fiber for Christmas in moss green and a teal blue. I couldn't imagine the two colors going together, but that is how my sister saw them. I decided to make a Butterfly Mobius Shawl for her with the two colors divided by alternate color stripes of uneven thickness. It's turned out beautifully and I've received many compliments as I have worked on it. The fancy yarn makes the garment. People think the stitches are very complicated, when it is only k2,p2 alternated with p2 k2. A double seed stitch. I have some very very nice mohair blended hand painted yarn that I think I will make into a mobius for myself!
